PowerBook G3

The PowerBook G3, introduced in 1997 and famously reworked as the 'Wallstreet' and later the 'Pismo,' brought real desktop-class performance to a laptop for the first time, thanks to the G3 chip that also powered Apple's iMac and Power Mac lines.

The Pismo in particular, with its FireWire ports and swappable expansion bays, is still fondly remembered as one of the best-built PowerBooks Apple ever shipped — reliable enough that plenty of them were still doing real work well into the following decade.
