Apple Watch Ultra 2

3000 nits, Double Tap and on-device Siri that works with no signal, in the same titanium Ultra case.

Released September 22, 2023 · Discontinued September 19, 2025 · From $799

Apple Watch Ultra 2

A brighter screen and Double Tap. The Ultra 2 runs 3000 nits peak rather than 2000, which matters in direct sun on a mountain, and carries the S9 chip that brought the finger-tap gesture and on-device Siri working without a signal. That last part is the genuinely useful one for anyone out of coverage. Apple added a black titanium finish in 2024, the first color option the Ultra had ever been offered in. Everything else carried over unchanged: 49mm of titanium, 100 meter water resistance, dual-frequency GPS, the siren, the Action button and 36 hours of battery.

Reviews & Reception

A brighter display and the S9 on an otherwise unchanged Ultra, which is where the reviews landed.

With so few user-perceptible upgrades over the original, it isn't worth upgrading to the Ultra 2.

Ultimately, the Watch Ultra 2 is the best smartwatch Apple has made yet. It's just not all that much better than the Ultra.
