The nano with a video camera, an FM radio and a pedometer. Apple removed the camera from the next generation and never brought it back.
Released September 9, 2009 · Discontinued September 1, 2010 · From $149 (8 GB)

The fifth nano had a video camera in it, which remains one of Apple's stranger decisions. A tiny lens in the bottom corner shot 640x480 video with no still photography at all, apparently because the sensor Apple could fit could not do both well. An FM radio with live pause, a pedometer and a speaker came too. The body stayed long, thin and anodized, with a 2.2-inch screen and nine colors. Reviewers found the camera genuinely useful and the placement awkward, since holding the nano to film meant covering the lens with a finger about half the time. Apple removed the camera from the next generation. It never put one back.
A video camera, FM tuner and pedometer arrived on the nano, none of them on the iPhone of the day.
A compelling upgrade to an already solid and affordable media player.
