The iPhone 11's A13 Bionic inside the iPhone 8 body, with Touch ID and a home button, at $399.
Released April 24, 2020 · Discontinued March 8, 2022 · From $399 (64 GB, unlocked)

Apple put the A13 Bionic, the chip from the iPhone 11, inside the iPhone 8 body and charged $399 for it. That is the whole product. It was a good one. Touch ID, a home button and 4.7 inches of LCD in 2020, which sounds dated and mattered to a lot of people who had never wanted Face ID or a notch. The single 12-megapixel camera did Portrait mode in software using the neural engine, and it only worked on people. Wireless charging, IP67, glass back, 3GB of RAM. It became the phone Apple sold to anyone upgrading from a 6s or a 7 who did not want to spend $700, and it sold in very large numbers in exactly those markets.
An iPhone 11 chip in an iPhone 8 body at $399 made this the budget recommendation of its year.
