Apple's first dual-camera iPhone: a 2x telephoto alongside the wide, and the Portrait mode that arrived with it in iOS 10.1.
Released September 16, 2016 · Discontinued September 10, 2019 · From $769 (32 GB, unlocked)

The 7 Plus is where the second camera started. A 56mm telephoto sat next to the 28mm wide, giving 2x optical zoom on a phone for the first time, and a few weeks later iOS 10.1 turned that pair into Portrait mode. Apple used the difference between the two images to build a depth map and blur the background, and the early results were rough around hair and glasses and got better with every release. Every dual-camera phone since has done some version of this. The rest was a 7 in a larger body: 5.5 inches at 1920x1080, a 2900 mAh battery, IP67, no headphone jack, the A10 Fusion, and 3GB of RAM against the 7's 2GB. It shipped September 16, 2016. Apple kept it on the price list for two years.
Water resistance arrived and the headphone jack left; the Plus added the second telephoto camera.
