iPad mini 2

Apple gave the mini the Retina display a year after everyone asked for it, and in doing so put the same 2048x1536 resolution into 7.9 inches that the Air had in 9.7. 326 pixels per inch. The sharpest screen Apple had shipped on anything. The A7 came across from the Air too, so for the first time the small iPad was not the slow one. The gap between the two sizes closed to almost nothing, which was good for buyers and awkward for Apple, since the mini now undercut the Air by $100 while doing the same things. It is probably the best-value iPad Apple has ever sold.

Reviews & Reception

A Retina panel and the A7 brought the mini level with the Air, at $70 more than before.

This is precisely the iPad mini we've been waiting for, but it comes with a price hike of $70 over last year's model.

We say, two high-quality iPads are better than one, even if it does make it harder to decide which to buy.
